Carinthia is a real kingdom of lakes. With the Faaker See and the Ossiacher See, there are two of the most beautiful and largest around Villach.

Lake Faaker See not only impresses with its proximity to the center of Villach, but also with its turquoise blue water and unmistakable mountain panorama.

A fairy-tale island in the middle of the lake and the reed belt, nicknamed "Everglades" by the locals with a wink, give Lake Faaker See its unmistakable touch.

NOTICE: The Faaker See is privately owned and the owner charges fees for paddling (or entering with watercraft).

For the 2023 season (01.05.-31.10.2023) the Villach Tourism Association has issued its own wristbands again to enable uncomplicated access to paddling. The tapes are available at the following daily (d), weekly (w), monthly (m) or seasonal (s) rates:

Picturesquely embedded between the Gerlitzen Alpe and the Ossiacher Tauern, the Ossiacher See is one of the most popular bathing lakes in Austria. Especially families and water sports enthusiasts get their money's worth here and thanks to its abundance of fish, the lake is also a very attractive destination for anglers.
